The manifestations of skin ageing include wrinkles, deepening folds, loss of uniformity of colour (e.g. age spots), thinning and dryness. Skin ages at different rates depending on a number of factors. The main determinants of skin ageing are genetic or lifestyle/ environmental factors such as sun exposure and smoking.
Many modalities are available for skin rejuvenation, dependent on the individual patient and the specific ageing feature(s) of concern. Options include chemical peels, lasers, fillers and Botulinum Toxin A (Botox). See Non-surgical treatment for further information.
