The manifestations of skin ageing include wrinkles, deepening folds, loss of uniformity of colour (e.g. age spots), thinning and dryness. Skin ages at different rates depending on a number of factors. The main determinants of skin ageing are genetic or lifestyle/ environmental factors such as sun exposure and smoking.
A number of modalities are available for skin rejuvenation, dependent on the individual patient and the specific ageing feature(s) of concern. Options include chemical peels, lasers, fillers and Botulinum Toxin A (Botox). See Non-surgical treatment for further information.
