Getting here
The hospital has free patient parking on site. By train, Edinburgh Waverley and Haymarket are both around fifteen minutes away by taxi; Edinburgh Airport is a thirty-minute drive. Lothian Buses route 16 stops within a short walk.
If you are travelling from further afield
Consultations are scheduled to respect travelling time, and where a further consultation would help you reach a decision, it is offered without additional charge. For patients who live further away, or where it is more convenient, we offer virtual video consultations. A second, in-person consultation is always needed before any decision regarding surgery is confirmed. Between your one-week nurse review and your consultant review at around six months, your consultant remains directly available, and routine checks can sometimes be arranged remotely at your consultant’s discretion.
Day-case surgery and staying nearby
Most procedures are performed as day cases. You will need someone to drive you home after surgery and to stay with you on the first night. If you prefer to stay close to the hospital before or after surgery, there are hotels within a ten-minute drive on the waterfront and in the city centre; our team can suggest options when you book.
