Breast Augmentation Before and Afters
The breast augmentation before and afters on this page are of patients operated on at our practice in Edinburgh. You will get an idea of the different reasons why women seek breast augmentation and the unique issues that affect each patient. In all cases, we explain the reasons for surgery, the type of implant used, implant sizes, the position (pocket) of implant placement, and the change in breast size in terms of cup size.
Small volume breast augmentation
This lady in her mid-20s had always felt her breasts were small. This was affecting her confidence.
After consultation and consideration of all options, she decided to go ahead with a breast augmentation procedure. She wanted a natural look and opted for 275cc implants under the muscle. Results are at 6 months.
Breast augmentation before and afters
The breast augmentation before and afters below are of a young lady in her mid-20s. She had long-standing concerns about her breasts being too small and feeling out of proportion. She did not like the appearance of her breasts and felt limited in her choice of clothing and self-conscious wearing a bikini. She had also lost around 2 stone in weight.
After consultation and careful consideration, full profile round 335cc silicone implants were inserted under the muscle. Results are shown at 6 months. She has a lovely result which she describes as perfect.

This lady is in her early 20s. She had 335cc Motiva implants placed dual plane (under the muscle). Lovely result at 6 months.
300cc breast implants below the muscle 6 months post op
The patient is in her early 20s. She had long-standing concerns about the size of her breasts which was affecting her self-confidence. She had 300cc round full-profile Motiva implants inserted under the muscle. Results at 6 months.
Breast implants 305cc
This patient in her early 20s had underdeveloped breasts with a conical shape and “pointy nipples”. She had 305cc full profile round silicone breast implants placed above the muscle. Results are at 6 months and the patient has achieved a great result.
330cc breast implants below the muscle 1.5 years post op
The patient is in her 20s with no previous pregnancies. She had 330cc round full profile silicone implants inserted under the muscle. Results at 18 months.
Breast implants 360cc
This patient in her 20s had 360cc full profile round silicone breast implants placed under the muscle (dual plane). She had two previous pregnancies and had breastfed her children resulting in a loss of breast volume. She also had significant asymmetry which has been corrected using the same size implants on both sides. Results are at 10 months and she went from a 34 A cup to a 34 C cup.
305cc breast implants below the muscle
The patient is her early 20s with no previous pregnancies. She had underdeveloped breasts with constricted skin and a degree of breast asymmetry. 305cc round full profile silicone implants were placed below the muscle. Results at 11 months.
Before and after breast implants 32A- 32D
This patient is in her 20s had 330cc full profile round silicone breast implants placed under the muscle (dual plane). Results are at 6 months and she went from a 32 A/B cup to a 32D cup.
390cc breast implants above the muscle
Patient in her early 30s with one child. 390cc round full profile silicone implants placed above the muscle. Results at 6 months.
345cc round under muscle breast implants
This patient is in her early 20s with no previous pregnancies. She had 345cc round submuscular implants and results are shown at 6 months. Note that her inverted nipples have also been corrected with the insertion of the implants alone.
Breast augmentation
The before and after breast enlargement photos below are of a patient in her early 20s with no previous pregnancies. She had 305 full profile round silicone Sebbin breast implants placed under the muscles. Her outcome is shown at six months.
B to E/F cup breast augmentation
380cc moderate profile round nanotextured breast implants were used in the patient below. She is in her mid-20s and wanted a reasonable increase in breast volume.
Large volume breast enlargement
The images below are of a lady in her late 20s. She has one child and felt that she had lost volume to her breasts following pregnancy. She wished to have significant enlargement, and we selected 460cc full profile implants based on the use of a sizing kit in the clinic. The implants were placed in a dual plane (under the muscle). Her outcome is shown at six months.
Small volume breast enlargement
The lady below had poorly developed breast tissue and wished to have a small increase in breast volume that would look natural. She had 240cc round silicone implants placed under the muscle. Her outcome is shown at six months.
Under the muscle implants in a patient in her late 20s
The lady below was lacking fullness in the upper part of her breasts. She wanted a moderate increase in volume with a natural result. She had 310cc round moderate profile implants inserted under the muscle.
Patient in early 20s going from C cup to F cup
This lady in her early 20s chose 345cc round implants which were placed under the muscle. Her results are shown at six months, and she has had a significant increase in cup size.
Breast augmentation C to E cup
his patient in her 20s with no children had 310cc round moderate profile implants above the muscle. She went from a 32C to 32E bra size. She has a natural look and results are shown at six months.
Dual plane round implant breast augmentation
The images below are of a patient who wanted a moderate breast enlargement. 345cc round moderate profile breast implants have been used under the muscle (dual plane). The outcome is shown at six months.
32A to 32D dual plane breast implants
This patient in her late 20s had lost a little volume in her breasts having had children. She had 305cc round high profile gel implants under the muscle. Results are shown at six months.

This patient in her 20s wanted a natural look and had 310cc round moderate profile implants inserted above the muscle (subglandular). Results are shown at six months.
Dual plane augmentation and correction of inverted nipples
This patient in her early 30s had some minor breast asymmetry. She wished to have breast enlargement with correction of inverted nipples. She had a dual plane (under the muscle) augmentation with a 345cc implant on her right side and a 310cc implant on her left. Implants were Sebbin round moderate profile implants. Outcome shown is at six months.
Breast augmentation B to D cup
This patient is in her 20s with no children. She had 345cc round moderate profile implants over the muscle giving a natural look. She went from a 32B to 34D bra. Results are shown at six months.
Breast enlargement
The images below are of a patient who had cosmetic breast enlargement using 340cc round high profile implants in front of the muscle (subglandular)
Tubular breast correction with breast implants
The patient below is in her early 20s. She has had a correction of a tubular breast deformity using 450cc round full profile implants. The implants have been placed in the subfascial (over the muscle) plane. Note the discolouration in the skin around the areolar is due to the use of protective tape (for the scars) when the patient was sunbathing. Scar protection from the sun is crucial in the first six months.
Subfascial breast augmentation
The patient below has had breast implants placed in the subfascial plane. This position is under the thin layer that lies over the muscle. This plane has some of the advantages of placing implants under the breast tissue and the muscle. It is a ‘halfway house’. It can provide better shape and at the same time offer some of the advantages of placing implants under the muscle – namely blunting the fullness of implants at the upper part of the breast. The patient is in her early 30s and has had no previous pregnancies. She has had 310cc medium profile implants inserted.
Dual plane anatomical implants
The patient below had 325cc anatomical (tear shaped) implants inserted in a dual plane pocket. Results are shown at six months.
Minor breast asymmetry and correction of inverted nipple
The breast implant photos below are of an 18-year-old lady who had a minor degree of breast asymmetry (her left breast larger than her right breast). Before surgery she was a 32B cup size and wished to have larger breasts. Additionally, she also had some nipple inversion affecting her right breast. She had subpectoral (under the muscle) breast implants (round full profile) with 265cc volume implant on her right and 240cc volume implant on her left. Her inverted nipple was also corrected. The cup size was increased to a 32DD cup. The postoperative results are shown at six months.
Large volume implants in a patient with previous pregnancies 34A – 34E
This patient below is in her mid-30s had completed her family of two. Before surgery, she wore a 34A bra and wanted much larger breasts. She also had a minor degree of breast asymmetry. Subpectoral (dual plane) breast enhancement was performed using a 420cc implant on her left and a 400cc implant on her right. Results are shown at six months, and her current bra size is a 34E.
B to F cup dual plane implants
The patient below is in her early 30s and requested a significant enlargement in breast size. She had 345g round full profile breast implants in the subpectoral (dual pocket) plane. Bra cup increased from 32B to 30F. The postoperative result is shown at six months.
Breast lift combined with implants
The before and after photos below are of a patient who had a breast lift combined with breast implants (augmentation mastopexy) as a single stage procedure. She wanted her breasts to be lifted but also wished to have a significant increase in breast volume. A breast lift was performed (with an anchor-shaped scar), and approximately 90 grams of breast tissue was removed from the lower part of her breasts. The nipple was moved upwards, and 325cc tear shaped silicone implants were placed under the muscle.Results are shown at six months.
Natural 275cc breast augmentation
This lady in her 40s wanted a small natural increase in her breast size. She had 275cc round sub-glandular (above the muscle) implants. She has a natural-looking result at 6 months.
A to D cup breast enlargement
The before and after photos below are of a patient who had 310cc implants under the muscle (subpectoral). She went from a size 34A bra to 34DD bra size. The implants used were round moderate profile silicone implants. Results are shown at six months after the procedure.
Breast implants and correction of inverted nipples
The patient below underwent breast enlargement and correction of inverted nipples using 310gm Allergan (extra high profile) implants under the muscle (subpectoral) using infra-mammary incisions. Bra cup was increased from an A to D cup. Postoperative results are at four months.
Correction of tubular breast deformity
The photos below are those of a patient who had a one stage correction of a tubular breast deformity. She had an augmentation mastopexy (breast lift and breast implants at the same time) using round silicone implants via an incision around the areola (periareolar augmentation mastopexy). The breast implants are over the muscle (sub glandular implants).
34A to 34D cup size
The before and after images below are those of a patient in her mid-20s who had breast implants using 375gm Allergan TSM implants under the muscle (subpectoral) using infra-mammary incisions. Bra cup was increased from 34A to 34D.
